Laser Blepharoplasty at Hessler Plastic Surgery

But when it comes to the procedure, which is right for you — traditional or laser blepharoplasty?

What is laser blepharoplasty?

Laser eyelid surgery is a procedure performed on the eyelids with a laser instead of incisions. The laser “cuts” just as a scalpel would, but the difference is that the laser cauterizes the blood vessels — which means much less bleeding, a faster procedure, and reduced risk of scarring. In addition, anywhere that is touched with the laser will heal with less wound contraction. At Hessler Plastic Surgery, we use either the CO2 laser or the Erbium YAG laser.

Key benefits of laser blepharoplasty

  • Minimized bleeding during procedure
  • urgeon can see better and be more precise during surgery
  • Quicker procedure time
  • Reduced risk of scarring
  • Less swelling, bruising, and discomfort
  • Faster recovery time

Laser blepharoplasty procedure details

Laser blepharoplasty can be done under local anesthesia, and takes anywhere from 30 minutes to one hour, depending on if you are having both upper and lower eyelid surgery. You will be given protective eyewear before the surgery begins.

Dr. Hessler will use a hand-held laser device to make the incisions with the beam of light. This beam of light seals the blood vessels as it works, making it easier for her to make precise changes.

In upper blepharoplasty, the excess skin and fat will be removed. In lower blepharoplasty, the puffiness and bags under the eyes will be reduced. Once this has been completed, the incisions will be closed with sutures.

Recovery

Patients can expect about 3 to 4 days of recovery, which is significantly less than traditional blepharoplasty. Most patients feel ready to go back to work in about a week, once the sutures are removed from the upper eyelids.
